East London native Loudmouth has been in the game for a hot minute, with a host of good tunes and fire collabo’s to his name. But he’s been quiet for a piece. So when I heard he was coming out with a 5 part E.P. (or five E.P’s, whichever way you wanna look at it) I was intrigued. Now firstly I apologise, because I’ve been sitting on this for like a week and didn’t get a chance to write it up before now. But hey, what does that matter?
A lot, as it turns out. Loud’s Part 1 is a fire ensemble of killer beats, witty lines and trademark metaphors from this underground aficionado. Only five tracks long, it’ll leave you wanting more. ‘The Outspoken’ is the intro track, not a hard-hitting opener but more a smooth lyrical tune, introducing his presence. This is a well written piece and Loud eases through the track focusing on content with gems like “And I don’t know about you but I know I’m f***ing nang/I bang girls and slew man well – call me Russel Brand…Think about it”, an entertaining affair gearing you up for what’s to come. Next up is ‘Really’ a track calling out lazy/whack/stupid MC’s. Again, Loud is lyrically on point and has a valid opinion on the subject, and it is this that carries the beat which does get slightly repetitive. ‘Summer Breeze’ is a relaxed track with a beautiful sample and Loud slows it down but keeps it potent (his chess references are particularly noteworthy). ‘Just Leave’ is fast becoming my favourite track, a wicked sample that I’m trying to place but always remains on the tip of my tonuge (let me know Loud!), a personal look at a failed relationship shows there’s more in Loudmouth’s arsenal and he can get a little deep. While the piece at the end doesn’t do much for me, it’s takes nothing away from this brilliant piece. The final track ‘Fill The Air’ is a back to back Cypher featuring Mentalist, Mystro and Skandal. The cherry on top the E.P. goes out with a bang. Whilst I’m not a big fan of Skandal’s verse but is tricky flow keeps you on board, whilst Loud and Mystro both having me wondering who did better…I’ll leave it to you to decide!
Verdict: Strong start, now let’s see what’s next
